Skokloster

Skokloster is one of world?s best conserved 17th century castles. It took a quarter of century to build it but it was considered almost as a dwelling. The most important function of the castle was to show the power and success of the field Marshall Carl Gustav Wrangel at the time when Sweden was a superpower in Europe. The field Marshall himself spent only few weeks in Skokloster. That is during his whole lifetime, not annually.

In the castle you can find rooms full of valuable textiles and still at that time modern weaponry from all over the world. The interior offers places where time has stood still. In addition to Carl Gustav Wrangel, the Brahe family has left it's mark on the castle and for that reason there are milieus also from the 18th and 19th centuries. Since the year 1967 Skokloster Castle has been open to public as a State Museum.
